Contemplating A Move? Nerves & Jitters Are Inevitable

What do the nerves mean when you are contemplating a move?

Contemplating A Move & Ocean Views

This week’s blog is for those contemplating a move, but I’d like to make this a little more personal.  I was planning on purchasing a piece of property on the water, making improvements, then putting it back on the market.  That was my sole intention with my wife.  Escrow is opened, loan approved with one catch: we had never seen the property in person until yesterday.  Even though I have wanted to do this type of real estate investment, every fear that you could imagine crept into my mind on the flight to see the property.  The fears only got worse as I drove up to the property, but then… that million-dollar ocean-front view kicked in.

Future Visions Can Give You Peace

You might have thought that would have settled my emotions down. They started to with the view.  As my wife went through the house sharing her vision of the improvements we considered doing, my fears began to dissipate.

The Nerves Are Telling You Something

All of what I experienced is nothing to what I imagine you experience when contemplating a job position.  To me, it was just a financial decision. For you, it’s financial, business, and even a personal decision. Now more than ever, I can imagine what your mind and body go through when contemplating a move.  As I had to do myself, when you consider making a move, recognize and be aware of what you are coming up against.  It’s only normal that your nerves will kick in!  What I asked myself was, “Can I do this?” The fact that my personal nerves kicked in told me that this was such an important decision.  I had to treat this as such. I had to recognize the significance of the opportunity and the reward more than the risk.

The Views Of Your Future When Contemplating A Move

By focusing on the reward/pleasure aspect and not the pain aspect, I was able to see with clarity that my choice was correct.  You must also see with absolute clarity that your choice is correct when contemplating a move.  Once you know that’s the case, you (like me) have to look forward, not look back, sign your offer agreement, and anxiously look to the future with all of the rewards.  I went back to the property at sunset and I was sold.  In your mind, you may have to revisit everything that has been shared with you about your new opportunity.  Take that bold step and you’ll never look back either!
