As we enter the new year of 2020, I want to thank each and every one of you that have faithfully read my blogs every Thursday. Why every Thursday? I had an old (and I mean an older gentleman) that I knew, and every Thursday he would send me a note saying, “Happy Thursday.” I guess it just stuck.
Usually I will write four to five paragraphs to get your attention. Today it’s only going to be one thought, conveyed in one paragraph. The purpose is that you share this blog with everyone you know that will be engaging in any interview, with any firm or industry next year. There is one question that you need to ask yourself when you are interviewing. It’s not the obvious one, “Do I want to move to this firm?” With that question, you are closed-minded to the interview process. On the other hand, you are not with my question. Here it is in a nutshell. Six words that can define your entire interview process.
Do you want to learn more?
That’s it. If you go into an interview with this question in the back of your mind, you will be more open and receptive to the interview process. You will ask more probing questions, and you will ask more un-biased questions. You will simply interview better.
Wishing you and yours a flourishing New Year!
